Hi, I'm Mr. Turel, an educator in Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Mucahit Ismail Turel served as the high school counselor and the alumni relations coordinator in Harmony Science Academy, El Paso. He has taught engineering and computer science since he began teaching in 2006. Over the year 2015, he assumed the roles of the director of college counseling and alumni relations for the Harmony El Paso district. He served as the Director of High School Academics for the district between 2016 and 2018. Mr. Turel came back to serve Harmony Science Academy - El Paso as a Principal between 2018 and 2021. He is currently the Assistant Area Superintendent of College and Career for Harmony Public Schools North Texas. He is also an AP Scoring Leader and PASL Rater. Besides, he mentored and coached robotics teams between 2009 and 2013.
Mr. Turel's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering from the Gebze Institute of Technology and a Master of Education Degree as an Instructional Specialist from the University of Texas at El Paso. In addition, he has numerous certifications, including a School Principal Certificate from Texas, College Counseling Certificate from UC San Diego, Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard, and Character Education Development Certificate from the University of San Diego.
Mr. Turel also mentored and sponsored the school's UIL computer science team. In addition, he mentored numerous science fair projects and has served as a judge at several science fair competitions over the years. The projects he mentored won awards, including medals in Texas Science and Engineering Fair and ISEF.
Mr. Turel received the Adult Mentor/Coach Award in Tri-State FLL Robotics Tournament in 2011, the NCWIT Educator Award in 2012, and the WeTeach_CS Change Maker Award in 2017. He is the founder of the Harmony El Paso Alumni Association and Harmony Miners Organization. He also serves 80/20 Education as an advisor.
